A little patisserie along Duxton Road. You know I love pastries
Strawberry Balsamic Mousse ($6.50)
Layers of Cream Chantilly, Strawberry Balsamic Mousse, Vanilla Bavarois, Pistachio Sponge and Strawberry Balsamic Jam coated Sable.
This, as we were told, is the best-seller of Bonheur Patisserie. We can’t possibly skip the best-seller now can we? Maybe it was because of the title “best-seller”… I was slightly disappointed because there was no “WOW” moment when I took my first bite. The various layers do compliment each other extremely well though and blends together like they were one. A very light and fluffy cake.
Sweet Potato Mont Blanc ($7)
Coconut Cream with Candied Japanese Sweet Potato, Vanilla Sponge, Japanese Sweet Potato “Noodle” on Puff Pastry.
O.M.G! This is one of the cakes that will have my taste buds remember it for a good long time! What a fantastic blend of taste! The usual Mont Blanc gives a strong and definite taste of Chestnut. This creation, instead, is very soothing, distintictive yet with compliments of the various elements oh my oh my! 2 thin rectangular pieces of white chocolate gently craspes the sides. The mix of tastes was almost perfect, this baby. I could hardly tell the vanilla sponge, the thick layer of coconut cream nor the cubes of candied Japanese sweet potato in the middle of it all. Did I mention how crispy the puff pastry that the cake sits on was? DELICIOUS!
