Taipei | Day 1
The airline choice for this trip was Cathay Pacific, from Singapore (SIN) to Hong Kong (HKG) and then a transfer to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Why the hassle of a transfer? The air ticket cost to travel from Singapore to Taipei via the Singapore Airlines was SGD800++ whereas Cathay Pacific was having a credit card promotion with the tickets going at SGD500++. It was my first time flying on Cathay Pacific; quite a pleasant flight （＾Ｏ＾）
Our hotel choice for the 7 days’ trip was Hotel 73 (新尚旅店). The room was small but the cute decorations, the spacious bath and the accessibility of the hotel made up for the limited space. I do wish there were more pillows and probably a hide-away iron though.
It was off to explore the town after settling down in the hotel. The dinner plan was to head to the Modern Toilet Restaurant (便所主題餐廳) at Ximending (西門町). We had a hard time locating the restaurant after alighting from the cab along XiNíng South Road. It took around 30 minutes before we finally “chanced” upon the restaurant which was tucked away in one of the little lanes.
The food was nothing fantastic. Decent. It was a unique experience eating from toilet bowls and urinals… *lol* Nothing out of the extraordinary aside from that. We spent the evening walking around Ximending and spoiled myself with the fashion of the town.
We ended the night early around 9pm to catch some rest and prepare for the early wake for Jiufen (九份) the next morning.
